Welcome to the Fall Prevention and Rehabilitation Group in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University.

The mission of our research group is to:

1) understand the mechanisms of falls among various populations with high risk of falls through biomechanical and motor control perspectives; Research Purposes
2) develop evidence- and community-based interventions for reducing falls (such as perturbation training; vibration training, and dance therapy);
3) design devices and techniques which can prevent the likelihood of impact injuries from falling.

We use multidisciplinary approaches involving biomechanics, computer modeling and simulation, rehabilitation, and neuroscience to approach our research purposes. The long-term goal of our research is to reduce falls and the resulting injuries among individuals with higher risk of falling, to improve their quality of life, and to enhance the relevant clinical practice.
